The Messenger is an indie side-scrolling retro action platformer from Sabotage Studio published by Devolver Digital.

Players will take on the role of a young ninja on a quest to deliver a scroll with his clan’s survival at stake. However, the adventure soon evolves into a thrilling time-traveling escapade filled with surprises and humor, not to mention memorable bosses, villains and other characters. This takes the game from a straight up action platformer and transitions it into a full-blown metroidvania title.

The game features handcrafted 8-bit and 16-bit sprites, animations, and backgrounds for that authentic retro feel. It also features an original soundtrack from renowned chiptune composer, Rainbowdragoneyes, made using Famitracker.

The Messenger is a singleplayer-only experience and features full controller support.
