Raji An Ancient Epic is an action-adventure platformer that has its roots in Hindu and Balinese mythology. The story follows a Raji and Golu siblings caught in a war between demons and gods when her brother Golu gets kidnapped by demons on an attack on a town they were performing in. The god Durga upon seeing her plight Entrusted her with her most powerful weapon to save her brother.

Raji: An Ancient Epic is a beautiful game, set in a world and culture that is wildly under-represented in the medium. From the first minute you can immerse yourself in Raji’s adventure, and for all the urgency of stopping the designs of the nefarious demons, it’s very hard not to just stop and admire the scenery along the way. Do yourself a favour, pick this one up, and broaden your horizons a little bit.

In all, Raji: An Ancient Epic was a great game.  Yes, I had some problems with it’s length and the ending but if I step back and look at the game in its entirety, I can recognize that Raji was a gorgeous game.  It was educational and made me want to learn more.  My hope is that we’ll get a sequel to be able to explore ancient India once again and perhaps right the wrongs this game committed…only time will tell.
